We visited the Luther Burbank Gardens with its beautiful roses, so I decided to sketch one of the blossoms. It is amazing the amount of detail you can see in a rose if you really look. The shadows with their shapes, edges, and transitions from dark to light always cause me to really look at what is there so that I can draw what I see and not what I think is there.
